To ascertain whether parthenoforms found in Madeira Island were present in other Macaronesian archipelagos, extensive sampling was performed in several islands in the archipelagos of Madeira, Azores, Cape Verde and the Canary Islands. In each island, sampling was performed at various altitudes, in the main native plant communities, but also on agricultural and ornamental plants and their associated weeds and in spontaneous native and exotic species present in ruderal vegetation. In order to determine te possible continental origin of the parthenogenetic taxa, sampling was also done in Morocco, Southern Iberian Pensinsula and, for terms of comparisson, Greece.
